George III Bottle Box In Mahogany
A very pretty box, the top inlaid with a satinwood oval filled with a branch of grapes, leaves & vines. The corners with shaded fans, all bordered by crossbanded tulipwood. A further oval to the front filled with a basket containing a flowering plant. Further fans & crossbanding & an ivory keyhole escutcheon. The interior of the lid inlaid with scrolling initials: "J F" in a satinwood oval. Below, 4 divisions, each with a decanter, two with original stoppers, one engraved "BRANDY" & one "RUM". One other engraved "BRANDY" & the fourth engraved with initials as well as Masonic devices. Original brass carrying handles.
