George II Lowboy In Walnut
The Top veneered in bookmatched quarters, the centre an oval "oyster-figured" panel of yew, edge-strung with holly. The inner edge of the top strung with holly & bordered with crossbanding. Bold thumbnail moulding to the edge. The apron with two long edge-moulded drawers with further holly stringing. Original handles & escutcheon, excepting the lower right handle which is a c. 1750 replacement. Nicely scalloped lower edge to the front apron, the sides with an ogee profile. Standing on four well shaped cabriole legs
with pointed pad feet.Nice, warm colour.
