George II Kneehole Bureau In Walnut
Nicely patinated. The caddy-moulded top veneered with four highly figured bookmatched panels, featherbanded & crossbanded. The drawers well-figured & featherbanded & crossbanded. The sides of the case also bookmatched with two panels of figured veneer & crossbanding. Recessed cupboard door figured & featherbanded & retaining original hinges. The interior with a single shelf. The escutcheon on the long drawer likely original. The handles of the period 'though not original. Nicely shaped bracket feet with original blocks. A generous quarter-round moulding runs around the base of the case above the legs.
