Fine George IV Two-tier Server In Mahogany

Once in the collection of the Duke of Devonshire, perhaps William George Spencer Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire. The server bears a label: "Devonshire House 1920". Devonshire House, on Piccadilly, was demolished in 1925. Some of the contents were removed to Chatsworth & subsequently sold in Sotheby's 2010 The Attic Sale. Some pieces bear the same label. This dumbwaiter, in fine mahogany, has two dished & edge-moulded plateaus. Each plateau supported on a tapered column carved with water leaves. The downswept legs carved with lotus leaves at the knees. Original castors.
