Charles II Carved, Lidded Box In Oak
Good colour. The face carved with an attenuated trefoil motif repeated in reverse. Star-carved small roundels between. Thumb-moulded top edge. Interior paper lined. Lock plate probably original. Similar carving on a box illustrated in Coneybeare, Trees, Chests & Boxes, # 36 & # 57.
