SOLD:George II Bureau In Figured Walnut
Dramatic figure, particularly to top & lid, which are also feather banded. Distinctive double-beaded edge to lid. Nicely fitted interior with blocked, stepped drawers & pigeon holes, the prospect door & drawers string inlaid with ebony & holly. Doric columns flank the prospect door enclosing an unusually clever secret compartment. Later leather writing surface. Attractive size & proportions. Similar to a bureau by Henry Bell who succeeded Coxed & Woster at The White Swan, St. Paul's churchyard.
